so tired

Something else that happened on Monday was that a kid ran into a shipper and knocked a bunch of stuff off it and his mom just kept on walking. I went to pick it up and an old lady who had been behind them stopped and stared at me and said she would have picked it up and I said I was thinking the same thing and she said that she hadn't done it so I said I knew. She kept staring till I had finished and walked away.

Yesterday Bonnie left early cause she was sick. So I finished out receiving and stuff.

Today was horrible. The second I got in it was rush rush rush. Bret yelled at me that dairy needed to be got up and Zhaun was doing the truck so I had to work super extra fast. I wound up breaking down and working most the load. I skipped doing markdowns which means I know I'll find expired product tomorrow but I didn't really have any other option.

And I was right about the yogurt. I was almost out. Of every single yogurt. So I spent my first three hours doing yogurt and I kinda made it look alright. Then I went to fill milk and do shelf reviews. I was partially done with the dsd one when I was called to check. When I got back it was noon and Tony was there with the grocery truck. I almost started crying. We did finish it pretty fast though, only took a little over an hour to offload it and then load returns.

At some point during the truck Brad told me to go help this customer. The issue? The thing my tags go on can flip up and hide the price. She wanted to know the price and couldn't see it cause the tag holder was flipped up. So neither she nor Brad were smart enough to figure out how to flip the tag holder down.

We were nearly done with the truck when Pam from the desk came back and asked if I had any eggs that were on sale. Um, yeah, of course. I told her where they were. Apparently she thought that it being EGGS that were on sale and the shelf being empty that only one person would want any and so only took out as many as the customer wanted and left the shelf empty. Instead of, you know, taking the whole case out and setting it on the floor in front of the case or something. Complete idiot. And then Brad came back a few minutes later to tell me someone wanted help, they wanted eggs, as if he couldn't do it himself.

So I put out a few cases and went on break. I had seriously considered skipping my break.

Here's a good example of what determines good and bad service:
I was filling yogurt. This man crammed himself in the space between the wheelers and the yogurt and edged closer and closer to me, making me edge further and further from him until he had completely forced me around to the other side of the wheelers and he kept going, not a glance at me, not a word to me. He hadn't even wanted anything that was in front of the wheelers he just wanted to be mean to me! While on the other side of the wheelers this woman asked me if I could give her a case of yogurt and she was all super polite and nice and had even asked if we were allowed to sell full cases and she was just really nice about it. So the only case I had of the kind she wanted was at the bottom so I removed every single case that was on top of it and dug it out for her, despite her protests that I didn't have to go through all that just for her. After I handed the case over, accepting her gracious thank yous, the first customer, the man, was all, "Do you carry this brand!?" I asked him which brand he wanted, and he said, "Strawberry." Oh, yeah, that's a brand. Sure. And what kind of question is that anyway? Strawberry is only THE second biggest selling yogurt flavor ever. Whatever, I said we were out of it. Yeah, I probably could have found it in the back if I felt like digging around for a while but I didn't. Not for someone who was so incredibly rude to me earlier.

I was called to help someone on aisle 5 and she was behind the far endcap. So I spent a few minutes looking stupid and getting in everyone's way looking for someone who needed help. I finally found her and she wanted some salsa and out of the niceness of my heart cause she seemed like a reasonable person I went to the back to see if I could find it. I couldn't. I then went back to tell her. She wasn't there. I couldn't find her in the nearest aisles either. Whatever. Apparently she didn't actually want to get that salsa. If she did she would have waited.

I also had it where this guy asked me where some wrap things were, having no clue where to find them I asked if they were frozen since I thought they might be. He said no, so I suggested aisle 5 since I thought they were an Asian thing. He was all confused and said, "They're refrigerated."  Coulda said so. I showed him wall deli and then said they might be in service deli. A few minutes later he came back and said he couldn't find them on aisle 5. ............*blink*................ ooook. I showed him wall deli and suggested service deli again. He said, "Service deli! That's a good place to look!" Um, yeah...

Dustin had requested to be off by 6 today so Zhaun gave him the day off. I have a bagger 4-8 tonight. Turns out it was the rosy cheeked gay kid. The one I yelled at that one time for leaving frozen stuff in my cooler. I explained how to do stuff and what to do and got him gloves and gave him my box cutter. I might be intimidating to him because he was all super polite, said thank you a lot in a head bowed "yes master" kinda way. hehe

Had some creepy old guy get my attention to ask a question by calling me sugar dumpling. o_0

I wound up staying 50 minutes over.

Tomorrow's day 9 in a row. I am exhausted. Today was super exhausting. I can't believe just 6 years ago when I was doing dairy night shifts I was breaking down and working 4-6 pallets a night. I just can't keep up with myself from back then, not by even half.

Oh, and I never did break down and start crying. I think actually going ahead and taking a break beat that back.
